GFSI has reissued its Guidance Document Sixth Edition under version 6.3 to include key requirements related to the storage and distribution sector. As a result, food safety management schemes that cover the storage and distribution scope can now come forward to GFSI for recognition through its benchmarking process. If the scheme’s requirements are considered to be equivalent to those specified within the GFSI Guidance Document Sixth Edition version 6.3, the scheme will achieve formal recognition by GFSI.

Colocarán a la carne el ‘Sello de Confiabilidad’ 22 de octubre será presentado formalmente

La Asociación Nacional de Exportadores e Importadores de Carne en conjunto con la Sagarpa presentarán este 22 de octubre a nivel nacional el “Sello de Confiabilidad ANIEC”




Saltillo, Coahuila.- La Asociación Nacional de Exportadores e Importadores de Carne en conjunto con la Sagarpa presentarán este 22 de octubre a nivel nacional el “Sello de Confiabilidad ANIEC”, mediante el cual se garantizará al consumidor que la carne que es natural y está libre de promotores del crecimiento, carrageninas y polifosfatos.

 El presidente de la ANIEC, Jesús Valdés Parra, informó que será en una expo que se realizará en Aguascalientes donde se realizará la presentación de este sello, mediante el cual se buscará el origen de todas las carnes. Para garantizar esto último, Valdés Parra añadió que participará una empresa certificadora la cual será la encargada de checar desde el origen (donde empieza la engorda de los animales) hasta su sacrificio.

Esta nueva medida aplicará tanto para la carne que se queda en el mercado nacional como para la de exportación. Inicialmente se “sellará” la carne que se vende en los supermercados, para posteriormente incorporar a más negocios. El otorgamiento del sello no tendrá un costo por parte de la Asociación, reconoció Parra.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2013 – Garden Fresh Foods, a Milwaukee, Wisc.establishment, is recalling approximately 19,054 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken and ham products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes,  the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
These products are being recalled in association with a recall by the same company of products regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A full list of products being recalled can be found on the FDA’s website here. Products regulated by FSIS bear the establishment number “EST. 17256” or “Est. P-17256” inside the USDA mark of inspection and include the following:

The products were distributed to retail and food service establishments nationwide. The problem was discovered through microbiological testing at the facility by FDA. FDA, FSIS and the company have not received reports of illnesses due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider. 
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
